During the day of April 6, 2016, the country music legend passed away. He had been dealing with pneumonia for a while, but finally lost the battle against the condition. Merle over came prison time in his early life to get a rough edged outlaw look he came to be known for to the fans. Many fans are very upset about the passing of the legend, who had over three dozen number 1 country hits on the charts.

With the passing of Merle Haggard, another country legend passes away, leaving us with less and less music stars from the older days. Coming onto the scene in the 1960’s, Haggard had a very successful career. Best known for songs such as “That’s the way love goes,” and “Okie from Muskogee,” this marks the end of an era for country music. So as country music changes, let us give our condolences to the fallen legend, but never forgotten, Merle Haggard.
