Greetings fellow Who-vians! For those of you who haven’t watched Doctor Who: The Doctor (that’s his name) is a time lord, the last of his race from the planet Gallifrey. He travels in his spaceship, the TARDIS (Time. And. Relative. Dimension. In. Space), through time and space. He has had many companions accompany him on his adventures, and he has made many powerful enemies (Daleks, Cybermen, The Master, etc.) The best part about the doctor is that he fights his enemies with his intelligence and sonic screwdriver which can open anything…. accept it doesn’t work on wood… anyway, there have been so many different versions of the Doctor because if he is close to death, he can regenerate himself (basically he gets a new body). That about sums up the basics of the show. But seeing as Doctor Who has such a long history, and I haven’t even told you everything I know, I have comprised a list of the top 10 Doctor Who episodes to get you started on the right track. And for you fellow Who-vians out there who know these episodes, keep in mind this all in my opinion. So, lets get started, Allons-y!!!

10. Dalek (season 1): The Doctor pays a visit to an eccentric collector of alien tech in beneath the salt flats in Utah. There, the Doctor realizes that his greatest enemy has survived the great time war. The thing is, this is the last Dalek in existence, due to the Doctor having wiped the rest of them all out (along with sadly wiping out his own timlord race). But there might be more to this Dalek than meets the eye, and the Doctor’s companion Rose Tyler is determined to find  out what. This episode is a great introduction to the Doctor’s archenemies, the Daleks!

9. The Empty Child / The Doctor Dances (season 1): The Doctor and Rose chase a strange metal object through time into 1941 wartime London. There he and Rose Tyler meet some homeless kids who are terrorized by another gas-mask wearing kid, who is not from this world. Yes it is a two parter, which you will find more of on this list, but both are totally worth the watch.

8. Amy’s Choice (season 5): When the Doctor and his other companion (Amy Pond) are greeted by a man who calls himself a dreamlord, Amy must try to get a grip on reality and make a heartbreaking decision, one that could change her life forever.

7. Voyage of the Damned (season 4): This is one of my personal favorites, so don’t judge me. It’s Christmas Eve in 2007, and above the earth a ship is transporting foreign passengers to the planet to experience the Holiday. However, a shocking trap is discovered, and the Doctor must fight to save everyone’s life. This episode, in my opinion, is a touching and somewhat thought provoking episode, definitely check it out.

6. The Pandorica Opens / The Big Bang (season 5): In this two part episode, the Doctor’s friends unite to send him a warning that the Pandorica, which contains the most feared being in the universe, is opening. Many shocking things happen in this episode, and the Doctor’s friends must find a way to save the universe from certain doom.

5.  Blink (season 3): This episode introduces probably the Doctors most psychologically terrifying foes, the weeping angels. These foes look like ordinary statues, but turn your back for a second, and they will get you. Always keep looking at the angels. Don’t turn your back, don’t try to fight them, and most importantly… DON’T BLINK!

4. Rise of the Cybermen / The Age of Steel (season 2):  This is, shocking, a two parter! A malfunction in the TARDIS leaves the Doctor and Rose stranded in a parallel universe, where a new race of cybernetic beings have been born and plan a hostile takeover of the parallel earth. The Cybermen are one of the Doctor’s greatest foes of all time, whose sole functions are to assimilate new robot bodies, and to delete all those who resist their rule!

3. Doomsday (season 2) / Sound of Drums and Last of the Time Lords (2 parter, season 3): Yes, it’s a tie, I couldn’t decide between these two episodes for number four. In Doomsday, earth is the battleground between the Cybermen and the Daleks. And the Fate of Rose Tyler and her family will come to a shocking conclusion. In the two part episode Sound of Drums and Last of the Time Lords, a fellow time lord known as the Master fights with his nemesis the Doctor once again. But the Master cleverly takes over the earth and reigns with an iron fist. It is then up to the Doctor and his other companion Martha Jones to end the Master’s tyranny.

2. The Stolen Earth / Journey’s End (season 4): The Daleks return! And this time they have assimilated a massive army to take over a multitude of planets, primarily Earth! The Doctor and his friends reunite, and are forced to find a way to stop the most dangerous beings in all of time and space, once and for all!

1.  The End of Time Part 1 and 2 (season 4): The Master returns for vengeance, and the 10th Doctor’s death is predicted! This is an exciting episode that really delves into the psychology of the Doctor and what he stands for. Not to mention the birth of a new Doctor! A truly touching and thought provoking two part episode. It is a must watch for any Doctor Who fan, and is without a doubt my number one pick!
